We invite you to the XVIIIth Burnum Ides, which will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at the Krka Eco Campus in Puljane

Under the slogan Edamus, bibamus, gaudeamus! ("Let's eat, drink, and be merry!"), this year's Burnum Ides offer an extensive, all-day program dedicated to Roman gastronomy, cultural heritage, and educational content. Due to works on the Roman amphitheater in Burnum and the closed access road through Brljan, this year's event will be held on a slightly smaller scale at the Krka Eco Campus.

The program includes various features that will bring visitors closer to the everyday life of people, primarily soldiers, in the Roman Empire. Visitors can expect a historical and theatrical program of Diocletian's Legion, with a display of Roman soldiers and gladiators, a presentation of military equipment, discipline, and everyday life, as well as interactive contents for children and adults. The youngest will be able to try their hand at a brief school of Roman tactics, tour a thematic military camp, and take photos with legionnaires.

As part of the playrooms and creative workshops, visitors will be able to play board games from ancient times, make models of Roman military equipment, and weave a laurel wreath. History and nature lovers will be able to see the permanent museum and interpretation exhibitions of the Krka Eco Campus – the Burnum Archaeological Collection, the Temple of Nature, and the Laboratory of Nature.

A special emphasis of this year's manifestation will be placed on gastronomy. In the Convivium est vita program, Ivana Ožanić Roguljić, Ph.D., an archaeologist, will hold a culinary workshop inspired by Roman cuisine, and present the book Come to the Table! About Cooking in Narona, which she wrote together with Toni Glučin, and hold a short lecture, where she will introduce ancient gastronomy and sustainable nutrition to the audience. Visitors will be able to taste dishes prepared from local ingredients according to recipes inspired by Roman cuisine, and view an exhibition about ancient cuisine in collaboration with the Narona Museum.

The evening will end with a concert by the ethnic group  Kries, who combine traditional music and contemporary musical expression. Their performance in the unique ambience of the Krka Eco Campus will round off this year's Burnum Ides.
