The catalog of the visitor infrastructure of the Krka National Park as a key basis for a new spatial plan of the Park
23/04/2026
The document has been submitted to the Institute for Spatial Development at the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction, and State Property, thus providing an expert basis for further planning and development of the Krka National Park.
The Director of the Krka National Park, Nella Slavica, today presented the Catalogue of Visitor Infrastructure of the Krka National Park, developed in collaboration with the company Grgurević and Partners Ltd., to the Institute for Spatial Development at the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction, and State Property in Zagreb. The Catalogue represents a key expert basis for the Spatial Plan of the Krka National Park, which is currently in the development phase.
“The catalogue provides a systematic and comprehensive overview of existing and planned spatial elements of visitor infrastructure in the complex visitor management system of the Krka National Park. The elements it covers reach the level of individual sites and linear interventions, taking into account applicable spatial plans, management zoning, ownership and legal relations and the responsibilities of key stakeholders. It is particularly important for us that we can make this document available to the Institute for Spatial Development, which is currently developing the Spatial Plan of the Krka National Park”, emphasized the director of the Krka National Park, Nella Slavica.
This is a strategic document, with a precisely defined list of spatial elements of the visitor infrastructure, with a glossary, tabular, graphic, and photographic depictions, and a detailed description of all elements, implemented as a separate activity from the Krka National Park Visitor Management Study.
“The Krka National Park is the only institution in the Republic of Croatia with such a precisely prepared list of spatial elements of the visitor infrastructure, which includes guidelines and recommendations for activities related to spatial planning and construction, which makes it an extremely valuable tool in the further development of the Krka National Park Spatial Plan”, stated the director of the Institute for Spatial Development, Bojan Linardić.
On behalf of the expert team of the company Grgurević and Partners Ltd., the project for creating the Catalogue was led by Marko Jakelić, and on behalf of the Krka National Park, the project was coordinated by Ivona Cvitan, the head of organizational unit 2 (tourism).
The catalogue encompasses existing, planned, and considered infrastructure for visitors both within and outside the Park boundaries.
“It is precisely such an approach that enables the consideration of all diverse and spatially dispersed elements as a single and coherent whole. Also, by establishing a detailed glossary and coding system, the Catalogue has become a dynamic tool ready for continuous updating and direct implementation into the Institution's spatial databases”, emphasized Jakelić.
Such a systematic approach is the result of the need for even more precise management of the visitor infrastructure and its further development.
