Javna ustanova \u201eNacionalni park Krka\u201c sudjelovala je u nacionalnom programu pra\u0107enja gnijezde\u0107ih parova sova u\u0161ara (B. bubo<\/em>) provedenom od 1. velja\u010de do 10. o\u017eujka 2022. u organizaciji udruge Biom. Zahvaljujemo \u010dlanovima udruge, koordinatorima programa pra\u0107enja, na edukaciji i savjetima.<\/p>\n Od 1. velja\u010de do 3. o\u017eujka djelatnici Parka na dvadeset jednom lokalitetu du\u017e kanjona rijeke Krke oslu\u0161kivali su pjevanje mu\u017ejaka sove u\u0161are tijekom zalaska Sunca. Rezultatima pra\u0107enja jako smo zadovoljni i ove godine: na podru\u010dju NP \u201eKrka\u201c, od gornjeg preko srednjeg do donjeg toka, zabilje\u017eeno je jedanaest pjevaju\u0107ih mu\u017ejaka, tako da su potvr\u0111ena dosada\u0161nja saznanja o gnije\u017e\u0111enju jedanaest parova u\u0161ara.<\/p>\n CiIj uspostave monitoringa jest pra\u0107enje trenda populacije sove u\u0161are u Hrvatskoj, njezine rasprostranjenosti i uzroka i razmjera njezine ugro\u017eenosti. Sakupljeni podaci omogu\u0107it \u0107e bolje planiranje i predlaganje za\u0161tite za tu strogo za\u0161ti\u0107enu vrstu.<\/p>\n Sova u\u0161ara najve\u0107a je europska sova, duga do 70 cm, s rasponom krila do 170 cm. Osim po veli\u010dini, lako se prepoznaje po velikim \u201eu\u0161nim \u010dupercima\u201c i velikim crvenonaran\u010dastim o\u010dima. Leti mo\u0107no i postojano zbog \u0161irokih i zaobljenih krila. Kao i sve sove, ima operna\u0107ene noge s vrlo sna\u017enim kand\u017eama, kojima lovi plijen. Nema morfolo\u0161kih razlika izme\u0111u spolova osim veli\u010dine jer je \u017eenka puno ve\u0107a od mu\u017ejaka. Naj\u010de\u0161\u0107e se hrani ze\u010devima, glodavcima i pticama mo\u010dvaricama. Za lov su joj potrebna otvorena stani\u0161ta. Ne gradi gnijezda, ve\u0107 koristi udubine i pukotine stijena, gnijezda drugih ptica, praznine me\u0111u korijenjem velikih stabala pri tlu i duplje. Parovi su monogamni i uglavnom do\u017eivotni, stoga, jednom kada uspostave teritorij, trajno ostaju na njemu. Zanimljivo je da mu\u017ejak gotovo uop\u0107e nema doticaj s pti\u0107ima: on lovi i donosi hranu \u017eenki koja ih hrani. \u017denka sama inkubira jaja, a zatim i \u0161titi pti\u0107e od vremenskih neprilika i predatora dok ne budu stara dva do \u010detiri tjedna, kad napu\u0161taju gnijezdo i budu sposobni sakriti se u slu\u010daju opasnosti.<\/p>\n U\u0161ara je u Hrvatskoj neposredno ugro\u017eena elektrokucijom na elektri\u010dnim vodovima, krivolovom, namjernim ili slu\u010dajnim trovanjem i mogu\u0107im srazom s elisama vjetroelektrana. Posredno ju ugro\u017eava konverzija stani\u0161ta zbog intenzifikacije poljodjelstva i napu\u0161tanja tradicionalnog sto\u010darstva i poljodjelstva, \u0161to za posljedicu ima sukcesiju stani\u0161ta. Prijetnju predstavlja i uznemiravanje na gnjezdili\u0161tima zbog rekreativnih aktivnosti. Sveukupna populacija u\u0161are u Hrvatskoj procijenjena je na 800 \u2013 1 200 parova.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n [\/hr]<\/p>\n [en] The aim is to establish a permanent monitoring programme to monitor the population trends of the Eurasian eagle owl in Croatia, its distribution, and the causes of threat. The data collected will allow for better planning and protection of this strictly protected species.<\/p>\n The Public Institute of Krka National Park has joined in a national programme to monitor nesting pairs of Eurasian eagle owl (Bubo bubo) in the park area. Monitoring was organised by the BIOM Society, and was conducted from 1 February to 10 March.\u00a0We would like to thank the members of the BIOM Society for coordinating the monitoring programmes, and for their training and advice.<\/p>\n Park staff visited 21 locations along the Krka River canyon, listening for the songs of males in the early evening hours just after sunset.<\/p>\n The results of this year\u2019s monitoring session were exceptionally encouraging. In all, 11 singing males were recorded from the upper course, through the middle reaches, to the lower course of the river. We confirmed earlier assessments of eleven nesting pairs of Eurasian eagle owl in the park. Only one active nest with a female incubating her eggs was visually confirmed, in a crack of a steep cliff. This nest will continue to be regularly monitored, and all changes tracked. The Eurasian eagle owl is a protected species, and a target species in the ecological network location HR1000026 Krka and surrounding plateau. The aim is to conserve this population and habitat to support the nesting of a population of 50 to 70 pairs.<\/p>\n The Eurasian eagle owl is Europe\u2019s largest owl, up to 70 in length with a wingspan of 170 cm. In addition to its size, it is also easily recognisable for its large ear \u201ctufts\u201d and large reddish-orange eyes. Its flight is powerful due to the wide, rounded wings. Like all owls, the legs are fully feathered with strong talons used to catch prey. The sexes do not differ in appearance, except for size, as the female is much larger than the male. The diet usually consists of hares, rodents and wetland birds, and it needs open habitats to hunt. It does not build a nest, instead it uses hollows and cracks in rocks, the nests of other bird species, hollows under tree roots, and hollows in tree trunks. Pairs are monogamous and remain together for life, and once they establish a territory, they remain there. It is interesting that the males have virtually no contact with the chicks, he hunts and brings the female food, and she feeds them. The female alone incubates the eggs, and protects the chicks from inclement weather and prey until they are two to four weeks old. At this age, the chicks leave the nest and are capable of taking shelter when in danger.<\/p>\n In Croatia, the Eurasian eagle owl is threatened directly by electrocution on power lines, poaching, intentional or unintentional poisoning, and collisions with wind turbine blades. Indirectly, this species is threatened by habitat conversion, due to intensified agriculture and abandoning traditional animal husbandry, which results in habitat succession. It is also threatened by disturbances to nests due to recreational activities.
